In praise of the paper bag

screwed up paper bag

When our local green grocer sells us fruit and veg, he sells us just the amount we want and he puts it in brown paper bags. Back at home, the bags fold down flat and take up virtually no space in a drawer. Most of the bags are about the right size to wrap a couple of sandwiches in. After the sandwiches are consumed they make handy wrappers for apple cores and banana skins. The whole packet can then be tossed in the compost bin.  Beat that, plastic.
