Extreme composting

Mass for mass we compost more than we throw at home, which is great as the allotment is to organic matter as black holes are to cosmic matter. Its incredibly easy, you dump your peelings, apple cores and the like in a space and a year later you have lovely soil. Things are different at work where food scraps tend to be more of the curly sarnies and nibbles variety. Today I purchased a bokashi bin, which I’m going to dry run at home and then take into work if all is well. Fingers crossed that this is acceptable.

My understanding of bokashi bins is rather limited, I know they can be used odourlessly indoors and that they can handle cooked and other food due to the micro-organisms that are on the bran that you throw in. I’ve not much more about them. Maybe I’ve been looking in the wrong places…
